How it is used in a coaching business
Coaches use the word to separate the two halves of the business. The front end sells. Fulfillment delivers. When a founder says fulfillment is broken, they usually mean clients are drifting after the first few calls, the team cannot keep up, or refunds are rising. Outside the industry the word means warehouse logistics, so on a website it needs a qualifier such as coaching or client success.
- Covers the first 30 days, live calls, chat support, the training portal and accountability check-ins.
- Owned by a client success manager or a small team once the program passes 40 to 60 active clients.
- Measured by client success rate, retention, completion and the share of revenue that comes from resells.
- Has a cost. A well run back end can deliver for under 3 percent of revenue.
The test for whether fulfillment is working is simple. Ask what share of clients hit the result the offer promised, and what share stay or buy again. If nobody can answer, the back end is running on hope.
