Video Business Academy went from $0 to $250K a month, and the clients who hit the promised $10K month kept leaving.
That made no sense to us. Why work so hard to win a client in marketing and lose them six months later? The answer changed how we run every offer since, and it is the reason for the line at the top of this page.
Why do clients leave after they get the result?
Because they feel done. Once someone hits the promised goal, zero to $10K a month with a video business in this case, they want the next chapter. You cannot sell them the same thing again. Nobody buys a second run of a program whose result they already have.
Most coaches read that as a marketing problem. Sales are fine, then the client list thins, so the fix must be more leads. But the clients did exactly what the offer promised, and then there was nothing to buy.
You don't have a marketing problem. You have a second-sale problem.
What is the second sale?
The second sale is the next problem, solved. A client at $10K a month has a $10K-to-$25K problem, which is a second offer. A client close to the goal who wants a bit more time buys an extension. A client with a result needs the thing that result makes possible.
That is the whole mechanism: sell the next problem, not the same thing. When the next offer is relevant, up to 30% of everyone buys it, and of the people who won, 40% or more. The close rate on those conversations runs 40 to 50%, lower at higher volume. There is no ad cost on any of it.
At Video Business Academy that took lifetime value from $4K to $50K+, with some clients spending up to $50K in total. The typical coach's lifetime value is about $5K, because most coaches sell one package and never solve this. Clients stay 2 to 3 years.
Result from a named client with written permission. Typical clients of this cohort saw a range of outcomes; nothing here is a guarantee. How we handle claims.
Why do faster results mean a sooner second sale?
People were not getting results fast enough. That is where on-track rate and time to value come in: how fast does a person get a result. When people get the first result they are ready for the next thing. Get them there in three months instead of six and you can upgrade them sooner.
The loop runs: deliver, client success, a new need, the next offer, repeat. Ongoing value for ongoing revenue. It only starts if the first result lands, which is why the client success rate comes before any offer. At Video Business Academy that rate reached 50%+.
What does the next offer look like in practice?
At Acquisition Ace we looked at what people bought first and why, and what they could buy next: the same but different, the next step. In every offer we run a survey: 'If something could be done for you, what would it be? What do you wish this offer helped you with?'
Out of that came what we call the lobster on the menu: a premium version of the main offer at almost double the price. It costs nothing extra to fulfill and sold over 1,000 times in a little under a year. That premium version is now the main offer, and the old one sits under it.
We saw people leaving after we had worked with them, and it made no sense: why work so hard to win a client in marketing and lose them six months later? I learned that once someone hits the promised goal they feel done and want the next chapter. You cannot sell them the same thing again. The next thing to sell is their next problem: from $10K to $25K, a second offer. That took us to a 30% resell and upsell rate.

Why is the $97 community not the second sale?
The worst upsell or extension is $97 a month for the same access they already have. People who paid a lot to get in prefer to buy another high-ticket offer. It rarely sells. We do not do it; we build a real next package instead.
A $97 a month offer can work as a downsell. One we ran made a couple of thousand a month with almost no maintenance. Do not turn it into a serious community with live calls. Then it competes with your main offer, and clients ask why they should pay for the big one.
When does the second sale start?
Sixty days before the end, at the latest. Later than that and you have missed the extensions and the resells. The client success team knows who is on track, who has won and who is close, so the conversation starts from the dashboard.
Watch out. Winners still leave if nobody asks. The moment a client hits the promised result and offboards is the moment to offer the next problem. Most offers treat it as a goodbye.
