How it is used in a coaching business
Founders often ask how to offer a renewal without being pushy. The honest answer is that a renewal conversation is only awkward when the client is not sure they got value. When results have been tracked and shown to the client along the way, the renewal is a summary of what happened and a question about what is next.
- Start the conversation at least 30 days before the term ends, not in the last week.
- Have it run by the person who tracked the client's progress, usually the client success manager.
- Lead with the client's own numbers: what they came in with, what they have now.
- Offer a clear next step: continue, move up, or step down to continuity. Silence is the only bad outcome.
| Input | Example |
|---|---|
| Clients whose term ended this month | 40 |
| Clients who renewed | 28 |
| Renewal rate | 28 divided by 40, or 70 percent |
